ABOUT ADAPTIVE FUTURES

ย

We work at the intersection of human development, organizational design, and the future of work.

ย

A research and advisory firm facilitating executive community and advancing storytelling and intentional impact โ€“ for senior leaders, HR and Work Tech companies, and organizations navigating Ai-enabled transformation.

WHO WE ARE

ย

Adaptive Futures is a research and advisory firm facilitating executive community and advancing storytelling and intentional impact.

ย

Founded by Al Adamsen and based in Santa Cruz, CA, Adaptive Futures works with senior leaders, HR and Work Tech companies, and organizations navigating the most consequential transformation of their professional lives: the Ai-enabled reshaping of how work gets done, how decisions are made, how roles are defined, and how organizations are built.

Our three principal offerings are the Adaptive Futures Executive Collaborative โ€“ a private peer community for senior executives โ€“ Go-to-Market strategy and Strategic Narrative Building for HR and Work Tech companies, and Ai-enabled workforce transformation advisory for organizations of any scale. Each is grounded in four proprietary frameworks and more than a decade of original research into the future of work.

We are not a content platform or a course library. We are a thinking partnership โ€“ built around the conviction that the capacity to lead well in a disrupted world develops through deliberate practice, honest reflection, and purposeful conversation over time.

THE FOUNDER

Al Adamsen

Al Adamsen is the founder of Adaptive Futures and the creator of four proprietary frameworks โ€“ the PAD Framework, the AWARE Framework, the 10 Dimensions of Employee Experience, and the ODTS โ€“ developed over more than a decade of direct work with executives, leadership teams, and organizations navigating consequential change.

Based in Santa Cruz, CA, Al works at the intersection of human development, organizational design, Ai-enabled transformation, and the future of work. He has spent more than two decades advising senior executives, executive teams, and emerging leaders on organizational transformation, leadership development, workforce strategy, and the design of more adaptive, resilient systems.

He is a recognized voice in the People Analytics, HR Technology, and Leadership Development communities โ€“ named to numerous top 100 lists by prominent organizations across many years โ€“ and the researcher behind The Future of Work Project, an ongoing program of original research into the leadership capacities and organizational structures that will define high performance over the next decade.

Al is a sought-after keynote speaker, strategist, and facilitator โ€“ known for helping leadership teams cut through noise, rethink how work actually gets done, and build organizations that learn, adapt, and thrive. He is the host of Presence & Practice, a weekly LinkedIn Live on the inner dimensions of adaptive leadership, and the Adaptive Futures Podcast.

OUR PURPOSE

Preparing people and organizations to lead the future โ€“ not react to it.

ย
ย
โ€œHow do we make wise, well-informed decisions when the pace of change is faster than ever?โ€

The question Adaptive Futures was created to answer.

Adaptive Futures exists to help leaders, teams, and organizations build the mindsets, capabilities, and systems required to thrive in a world reshaped by Ai, automation, and continuous disruption.

We believe the future of work is not defined by technology alone. It is defined by human agency, adaptive decision-making, cross-functional collaboration, and the quality of the leadership applied to all of it. Our purpose is to help people everywhere navigate change with clarity, creativity, and confidence โ€“ and to build the organizations that make that possible.

We blend human-centered science, future-of-work research, and real-world leadership experience to help individuals and organizations understand themselves, understand the forces reshaping their world, and shape their futures rather than wait for them.

OUR APPROACH

Human-Centered. Research-Driven. Future-Focused.

Everything we do is grounded in three principles. They shape how we design every engagement, every framework, and every conversation.

Humans First
Technology should enhance โ€“ not replace โ€“ human creativity, connection, and decision-making. Every framework we have built, every engagement we design, and every conversation we facilitate starts from this premise. Ai is a powerful tool. Human judgment, empathy, and agency are what determine whether it is used wisely.
Evidence Over Assumptions
We integrate psychology, organizational science, Ai research, labor market data, and original research from The Future of Work Project to inform better decisions. We don't work from conventional wisdom or industry platitudes. We work from evidence โ€“ and we update our thinking when the evidence changes.
Action Over Theory
Our tools and frameworks are built for real-world use. Every coaching engagement, advisory relationship, workshop, and Practice Session ends with a concrete commitment โ€“ something specific a leader can do before the next conversation. Insight without action is interesting. Insight with action is development.
WHAT WE DO

Three principal offerings.
Several supporting capabilities.

Our work takes different forms depending on who we are working with and what they need. Three offerings are at the center of everything we do. Several supporting capabilities extend and deepen those engagements

1.ย The Adaptive Futures Executive Collaborative

A private peer community for senior leaders โ€“ meeting Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 4:00pm PT for 55-minute facilitated Practice Sessions. Built on four proprietary frameworks, the Collaborative develops self-awareness, situational intelligence, and intentional leadership through purposeful conversation, Compassionate Curiosity, and the Opportunity Realization Process.

The most direct expression of everything Adaptive Futures believes about how serious leaders actually grow. Founding Member spots available now at $299/month, locked for life.

2. Go-to-Market Strategy & Strategic Narrative Building

For founders and senior executives in established and emerging HR and Work Tech companies. We help close the gap between what a product does and what the market actually hears โ€“ through Go-to-Market strategy, persona-based research, and Strategic Narrative Building.

A holistic approach to building category authority, trust, and strategic visibility โ€“ educating buyers and inspiring the peer conversations that drive enterprise purchasing decisions.

3. Ai-Enabled Workforce Transformation Advisory

For executive teams and organizations of any scale navigating Ai-enabled workforce transformation, workforce planning, and the organizational design challenges that no existing playbook fully addresses.

Advisory, research briefings, and strategic facilitation grounded in The Future of Work Project research and the ODTS โ€“ helping organizations make wise, well-informed decisions across functions and over time.

Facilitation & Speaking

Strategic facilitation of leadership retreats, executive team offsites, strategic planning sessions, and workforce transformation workshops. Keynote speaking on adaptive leadership, Ai-enabled transformation, the future of work, and the human-Ai relationship.

ll facilitation draws on the PAD, AWARE, 10 Dimensions, and ODTS frameworks to create conditions for honest, high-quality conversation that produces genuine alignment and concrete next steps

Research โ€“ The Future of Work Project

Adaptive Futures' ongoing research program into the leadership capacities, organizational structures, and human-Ai relationships that will define high performance over the next decade. Original intelligence on Ai adoption, workforce and skills trends, decision-making science, and human-centered organizational design.

Informs every coaching engagement, advisory relationship, and workshop we deliver. Available to members of the Executive Collaborative and as standalone research briefings for organizational clients.

OUR FRAMEWORKS

Proprietary tools that turn insight into action.

Four frameworks sit at the center of everything Adaptive Futures does. Together they form an integrated operating system for leadership โ€“ working across the individual, team, and organizational levels simultaneously. Each comes with a diagnostic assessment.

๐Ÿ”น The PAD Framework โ€“ Personal Assessment & Development

Ten Dimensions designed to elevate self-awareness, goal setting, and the specific strategies through which leaders pursue their goals. A living map of leadership that becomes more precise and more useful the longer you work with it.

Comes with a personal diagnostic assessment. Used in the Executive Collaborative, individual coaching, and organizational leadership programs.

๐Ÿ”น The AWARE Framework

Assess, Weigh, Act, Reflect, Evolve. A systematic, cyclical model for mindful leadership and intentional decision-making. AWARE governs how leaders show up in every room they enter and every decision they make โ€“ with full attention, honest perception, and considered action rather than reactive response.

AWARE also governs the quality of organizational decision-making processes. Comes with a personal diagnostic assessment. Used across all Adaptive Futures engagements.

๐Ÿ”น The 10 Dimensions of Employee Experience

The human experience at work is fundamentally relational. The 10 Dimensions maps the full human system of work: Human to Self, Human to Human, Human to Tech, Human to Ai, Human to Robots, Human to Place, Human to Work, Human to Org, Human to Data, and Human to Society.

For senior leaders, this framework provides a precise lens for understanding and continuously improving the experiences of the people they lead โ€“ particularly as Ai, robotics, and data reshape each relational dimension of work. Comes with a team and organizational diagnostic.

๐Ÿ”น The ODTS โ€“ Organizational Decision and Transformation System

Designed for executive teams navigating Ai-enabled workforce transformation, the ODTS provides a systematic framework for making wise, well-informed decisions over time โ€“ across functions, across levels, and across the full complexity of organizational change.

Works in direct partnership with the AWARE Framework: AWARE governs the quality of the decision-making process; the ODTS governs the infrastructure within which decisions are made. Comes with an organizational diagnostic assessment.

These four frameworks are not separate tools to pick and choose from.

They are an integrated system โ€“ designed to work together across the individual, team, and organizational levels simultaneously.
